Subject: Some 22 and 24 note hobbits

Looking around for my next composition project (and much thanks is owed for that to UnTwelve for rebooting me with the UnTwelve Contest boot) I've been considering the 22 and 24 note 11-limit hobbit scales for two rank three temperaments. One, zeus, tempers out 121/120 and 176/175; the other, which I'm calling julius, tempers out 176/175 also, but then 896/891 instead.

Julius is a member in good standing of the diaschismic family of rank three temperaments, tempering out the diaschisma, 2048/2025. It could be just the thing for people who like their overtone series to tend sharp; it's distinctly on the sharp side but not so much as to raise complaints in most people about the tuning. Zeus on the other hand is like 99et, only more so, with a very slightly sharp 3, 5, and 7, but a flat 11. Either one could be used as a tuning for 24 notes via doubled octaves or two ranks of Halberstadt keyboards, but it might be noted that 22 gives proper scales in both cases while 24 does not.

Now I remember seeing these - I got behind in posting the Hobbit tunings.
